Broncos Hold On in Heart-Stopping NRLW Grand Final!

In a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 NRL Women’s Premiership, the Brisbane Broncos secured their fourth title with a hard-fought 22–18 victory over the Sydney Roosters at Accor Stadium in Sydney. The match, played on October 5, 2025, captivated fans with its intensity and dramatic twists, showcasing the resilience and skill of both teams.

A Tale of Two Halves

The Broncos dominated the first half, establishing a commanding 12–0 lead by halftime. Their disciplined play and aggressive defense kept the Roosters at bay. However, the Roosters mounted a formidable comeback in the second half, scoring three quick tries to take an 18–12 lead with just over 15 minutes remaining. This resurgence seemed to shift the momentum in favor of the Roosters, but the Broncos responded with determination.

The turning point came when a disallowed try by the Roosters reignited Brisbane's resolve. The Broncos regained control, with Dally M Rookie of the Year Shalom Sauaso charging over for a try, though a missed conversion left them trailing by two points. In the final minutes, Mele Hufanga scored the decisive try, which was awarded after a video review, securing the Broncos' victory and earning her the Karyn Murphy Medal for player of the match.

Standout Performers

Broncos fullback Tamika Upton, who scored the opening try, praised her team's determination, especially from younger players. Despite injuries to key players Tarryn Aiken and Taina Naividi, the Roosters fought valiantly but were left disappointed. Brisbane coach Scott Prince’s tactical decisions, including starting Jada Ferguson from the bench, proved critical. This win marked Brisbane’s first title since 2020 and reaffirmed their dominance in women’s rugby league.
