Why We Exist
Hero Athletica was founded by Danielle and Melissa, two women who kept watching girls walk away from sport and couldn't accept that it was inevitable. It wasn't. It was a systems failure. And we decided to do something about it.
Sport was built for boys. We're building it for her.
THE PROBLEM
Here's what the data says.
Girls leave sport at twice the rate of boys.
The average age they leave is fourteen.
Not because they stopped loving it.
Not because they weren't good enough.
Not because of anything they did or didn't do.
Because the environment stopped working for them.
Unisex kit that quietly signals sport wasn't designed for them. Club cultures built around male participation as the default. Coaching structures that weren't built with girls in mind. The slow, accumulated weight of being an afterthought.
That is a systems failure.
Not hers.
OUR RESPONSE
So we decided to do something about it.
Hero Athletica was founded by Danielle and Melissa — two women who kept seeing the same thing play out and couldn't stop thinking about it.
We started with a simple question: what would girls' sports apparel look like if it was actually designed for girls?
Not adapted from a boys' range. Not an afterthought. Not unisex.
Designed from the ground up — for her body, her sport, her game.
Every product we make is our answer to that question. Built to tell her from the moment she puts it on: this was made for you. You belong here.
WHAT WE MAKE
Gear for girls who play.
Football kits, sports shirts, shorts, hoodies, socks, shin guards and accessories — all designed specifically for girls in sizes 4 to 16.
Gear that fits. Gear that moves. Gear that says she belongs on that pitch as much as anyone else.
THE MISSION
Why it matters.
Every girl who stays in sport is a data point pushing back against the system that was failing her.
She's healthier. She's more confident. She has stronger friendships, better mental health outcomes, and a different relationship with her own capability.
But she can only stay if the environment lets her.
That's what we're here to change. One kit at a time.
The game needs her. Let's make sure she stays.
