Our Story

Welcome to Hero Athletica – a soccer-inspired sport brand designed for girls!

Founded by identical twin sisters Melissa and Danielle, Hero Athletica is on a mission to redefine sports apparel for young female athletes. Growing up in Far North Queensland during the ’90s, they experienced firsthand the frustration of unisex sports gear that didn’t fit, wasn’t comfortable, and didn’t inspire confidence. Today, inspired by the Matildas and the growing movement of girls in sports, they create stylish, comfortable, and girl-specific apparel in sizes 4 to 16—designed to empower girls both on and off the field.

The journey began with a simple but powerful realisation: girls deserve sportswear that fits, feels great, and looks amazing. Inspired by Melissa’s daughter Lucia—who refused to wear her brother’s hand-me-down soccer clothing—the sisters set out to create a brand that combines soccer-inspired style with high-quality, versatile designs for all active girls.

As passionate sport-lovers and devoted mothers, Melissa and Danielle believe their products and accessories should do more than just meet a practical need—they should inspire confidence, foster a sense of community, and empower girls to embrace sport and movement in their own way.

MELISSA

Following a longstanding career in the medical industry working as a radiographer and sonographer, Melissa is ready, excited, and committed to bringing Hero Athletica to fruition.

With a keen eye for design, Melissa brings a unique perspective to Hero Athletica. She understands the importance of comfortable and stylish apparel for girls on and off the pitch. Her experience in product development and her commitment to quality ensure that Hero Athletica's offerings meet the highest standards of performance and aesthetics.

DANIELLE

Like Melissa, Danielle also had a longstanding career as a radiographer and sonographer before making a drastic career change 7 years ago when she commenced the Juris Doctor. Danielle went on to be admitted as an Australian Lawyer and until recently, worked as a commercial lawyer.

Danielle oversees the legal and operational aspects of Hero Athletica. Her strategic vision and attention to detail ensure that the company operates efficiently and complies with all regulatory requirements. Danielle's passion for girls' soccer and her dedication to supporting young athletes drive the company's mission of empowerment and inclusivity.
